Our Philanthropy
Philanthropy is something we as a chapter hold very dear to our heart. We constantly try to strive to help others that need it. Our current philanthropy is American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). All of our sisters hold this close to their heart. It might be for someone they knew or for themselves. Since we all value our national philanthropy so highly, we are very committed to make sure that everyone is doing ok mentally. In addition to checking in with each other, we raise by doing many different fundraisers during the semester. Lastly, we now have an Out of the Darkness walk here at Shippensburg University. Last year was our first year doing it and we were able to raise over $1,100 for AFSP! Check below for when the next philanthropy event is!

We also have a local philanthropy which is the American Diabetes Association (ADA). We hold this one close to us as one of our sisters passed away from diabetes and therefore we wanted to honor her and spread awareness for this organization. Check below for when the next local philanthropy event is!
When is the next philanthropy event??
A message from our National Philanthropy Chair
" I chose to be the national philanthropy chair because suicide prevention is a critical issue that requires attention and open discussion. By taking on this role, I have the opportunity to help raise awareness and advocate for the necessary support systems to address this serious matter. Suicide prevention isn’t just about saving lives, it’s about creating an environment where mental health challenges can be openly discussed and addressed. By being actively involved in this initiative, I can contribute to creating a positive impact in the lives of those struggling with mental health challenges." - Eliza

A message from our Local Philanthropy Chair
"I chose to be the local philanthropy chair for many reasons. The first is the fact that diabetes is unfortunately not as discussed as other health issues that many may struggle with. By being active and fundraising for this philanthropy, I’m also directly advocating for the money that silently struggle with this diagnosis." - Eliza

A message from our Co-National Philanthropy Chair
"The reason I chose Co-National is that I’m passionate about spreading awareness of suicide prevention, especially as a social work major with a minor in criminal justice. I want to center my degree and future career around suicide prevention.
Another reason I chose Co-National is that this will be my first full semester in the sorority, and I want to experience what it’s like to take on a leadership role within both the sorority and this organization. While I’ve held positions in my church before, I haven’t yet had the chance to lead in a formal capacity. I’m excited to learn how to step into that kind of role and grow as a leader. " - Lupita

A message from our co-local philanthropy chair
" I chose to run for local philanthropy because someone very dear to me suffered from complications of diabetes and passed away a little over a year ago. Running for this position allows me to raise awareness for the cause and support others who are struggling with this disease. " - Cheyenne
